PANJIM: Ultracon Madgaon Royals beat Vimson Panjim Powerplay by 94 runs in the Desserts n More Sarsangan Super Series Cricket at Arlem cricket ground, recently.
Electing to bat first, Madgaon Royals openers Aditya Dalal 36 (24 balls, 3 x 4s, 2 x 6s) and the skipper Damodar Pai Patnekar 38 (29 balls, 6 x 4s) put on 52 runs in 5.5 overs to give their team a flying start. The Royals kept the run rate hovering around 9.5 runs per over throughout the innings, even when they lost wickets that of the openers and Gaurish Shenvi Lotliker 14 with the score reading 114-3 in the 12 th over.
Kartik Hattangadi, dropped by Ashwin Kuncolienkar early in his innings, made full use of the life as he smashed 41 (28 balls, 6 x 4s) and in the company of Akhil Nadkarni 37 (21 balls, 6 x 4s, 1 x 6s) put on 72 runs off just 44 balls for the fourth wicket to help Madgaon Royals put on a massive 193-6 in 20 overs.
Amogh Namshiker, Sanat Kamat, Amith Kamat and Mohit Kamat picked a wicket each for the Vimson Panjim Powerplay team.
Vimson Panjim Powerplay started very badly as they could muster only 16 runs in the first opening four overs of powerplay. Only Granthik Buyao 22, Laxmikant Kurade 23 and Sahil Adwalpalkar 15 could reach double figures as the Vimson Panjim Powerplay folded up for 99 all out in just 14.5 overs, extras with 28 being the top score.
The pick of the bowlers was the off spinner Shaunit Sawardekar with figures of 3-9 and was supported by Prasheel Kamat 2-4 and Akhil Nadkarni 2-33. Aditya Tendulkar and Rohan Audi took a wicket each. The 94 run win was the biggest win recorded in Sarsangan Super Series in the 12 matches held so far.
Akhil Nadkarni was awarded the man-of-the-match medal and the Estilo Moderno Realty man-of-the-match trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 2,000. The presentation was done by Sanket Singbal, Mahendra Audi, Arun Talak, Damodar Pai Patnekar and Nagnath Shanbhag in the presence of Gomakant Mahambrey.
