PANJIM: Madhya Pradesh ended their campaign on a high, winning 3 of the 7 Gold medals on offer in Senior Women weight category, as the curtains came down on 2nd Khelo India National Women’s League Ranking Judo Tournament 2023 (West Zone) at Campal.
Himanshi Takas (-63kg), Mahima Pathak (-70kg), and Amisha Kade (-78kg) were the Gold medal winners for the MP Team. Maharashtra too struck it big on the concluding day, with their judokas Ketki Gore (-52kg) and Shambhavi Kadam (+78 kg) clinching Gold. Monika Choudhary (-48kg, RAJ) and Shahin Dojada (-57kg, GUJ) were the other Gold medal winners of the day.
Hosts Goa, which had won a medal on each of the previous three days, nearly secured another medal but fell short, with Goa’s Faaiza Attar earning a respectable fourth place finish behind the two bronze medalists. The days medal count stood as follows: Madhya Pradesh three golds, a Silver; Maharashtra two golds , a silver & four bronze, Rajasthan a gold, three silvers and three bronze medals; Gujarat one gold, two silvers and six bronze. Over 650 judokas from seven states; namely – Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Daman & Diu, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, besides hosts Goa competed at the West Zone championships which concluded on Saturday.
