PANJIM: Sporting Club de Ponda and Mahalaxmi English High School, Talaulim emerged champions in the boys and girls category respectively at 3rd State Sub-Junior (U-16) Netball Championships, organised by Netball Association of Goa in collaboration with SAG, at GVM’s HSS, Ponda, Sunday.
In the boys finals, Sporting Club de Ponda defeated Ponda Netballers 21-17 while in the girls, Mahalaxmi outplayed Almedia High School, Ponda 11-08.
In all eight boys and six girls teams took part in the championships.
Chief Guest Ajit Kamat, sub-divisional officer, Directorate of Fire Services presented the shield and medals to the winners in the presence of Naresh Gaunekar, NAG secretary, Deepali Raikar, vice-president, Prakash Kurane, Krinanath Naik of S.C.P.
Earlier, Sameer Raikar welcomed the guests while Sandip Shetkar compered and later proposed the vote of thanks.
