Mahila Nutan lift Mukund trophy

PANJIM, JAN 10
Mahila and Nutan High School, Margao beat Vademnagar English High School, Vasco to win the 10th late Mukund Trikannad Memorial All-Goa Inter-School cricket tournament at MCC grounds, Margao yesterday.
Dayanand Naverkar, MLA and president of Goa Cricket Association who was the chief guest, gave away the prizes. The tournament was organised by Margao Cricket Club in which 12 schools from Mapusa, Vasco, Panjim and Margao participated.
In the finals, Mahila Nutan bowled out Vademnagar for 125 in 34.1 overs. In reply, Mahila Nutan achieved the target in 25.4 overs losing 3 wickets. With this, Mahila Nutan has won this trophy consecutively for 4 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Narvekar said that the Goa Cricket Association is making all efforts for the promotion of cricket in Goa. He told the cricketers that playing cricket at the school level helps develop talent and builds up career in cricket. He cited the example of star cricketer of India Sachin Tendulkar. He also asked Ranji player Swapnil Asnodkar to give coaching in cricket to school children in Goa.
Individual prizes were also awarded. Best fielders: Chinmay Kurtarkar, Mahila Nutan and Akash Patel, Vademnagar High School; Best bowlers: Nikhil Kamat, Mahila Nutan, Best Batsman: Shubam Naik, Mahila Nutan and Best Al-rounder: Rahul Mawlankar of Vademnagar High School.
Ace cricketer Swapnil Asnodkar, MCC president and tournament sponsor Dinesh Trikannad and Amrish Naik, joint secretary were present.
