RAIA: Maina SC, Curtorim, defeated Navelim Villagers Union 6-5 via the tie-breaker to secure a place in the finals of 32nd Super Soccer tournament in memory of Joao Francis Fernandes at Dando ground, Benaulim, Friday.
The first half remained goalless as the teams showcased strong defences. In the 3rd minute Navelim’ s Prestly Gomes power-packed shot hit the Maina crossbar and went out of play. Three minutes later Maina’s Joywin Carneiro long ranger failed to find the target.
Maina displayed superior shooting skills in the tie-breaker, securing a thrilling victory.
Danstan Fernandes of Navelim was presented the man-of-the match award by Climax Lawrence.
