MANDOPA: Maina SC blanked St Anthony SC Assolda 2-0 to move into the semi-final of the Mandopa football cup football tournament organised by Mandopa SC, at Mandopa ground, on Saturday.
Maina had the first chance of the match through Joshley Moniz but the latter’s power drive shot was denied by the Assolda post in the tenth minute.
At the other end, St Anthony SC, Assolda through Moises D’Sa should have netted but the latter’s move was cut short by the Maina defender in the 23rd minute.
Assolda’s Alton Vaz’s long ranger hit the Maina crossbar and went out of play in the 26th minute.
It was Milagres Fernandes who after dribbling past a couple of Assolda defenders shot from the top of Assolda box and netted the first goal of the match in the 39th minute.
Milagres Fernandes netted his brace and 2-0 for Maina in the 56th minute with a snap shot.
