MARGAO: Maina Sports Club prevailed over hosts AA De Majorda 6-5 via the tie-breaker to cruise into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Fr Basilio Andrade memorial inter-village football tournament, at Musson ground, Majorda, on Friday. The teams were tied 1-1 at full time.
Maina surged ahead in the 19th minute through Peter Pereira but crossing over, AA De Majorda were a transformed side and equalized through Milton Miranda in the 44th minute with a deft placement that did not allow the rival keeper a chance.
In the ensuing penalty shoot-out, Joaquim Carvalho, Neville Fernandes, Tony Dias, Bruno Fernandes and Wilson Fernanndes found the mark for Maina Sports Club.
Yellington Fernandes, Steve Fernandes, Allan Fernandes and Clinton Fernandes converted for AA De Majorda.
