PANJIM: Nelson Paes, the promising Mixed Martial Art (MMA) exponent will be sponsored by Mall De Goa for the next bout set to be held in September in Abu Dhabi. Bhuvanish Shet director of the mall is giving Rs 1 lakh to help the athlete train in Thailand.
Nelson has won three of his five bouts and is presently on a streak of three following his win against an athlete from the UAE.
Bhuvanish said, “Nelson who is representing India in his upcoming fight had approached us and we are very proud to sponsor such rising talent. Not only this, we would like to promote talent in other fields like arts, fine arts, education (talent of special children) etc.”
Nelson, who recently represented India in Dubai at Desert Force, the biggest fighting show in UAE and became the first Indian to win on an international platform in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts. With this success he is now booked another two fights, representing India in UK in August and UAE in September.
Desert Force Championship is the largest mixed martial arts promotion company in the UAE, and hosts most of the top-ranked Arab MMA fighters in the region. Through, its televised programmes, it offers an excellent opportunity for upcoming fighters like Paes to showcase their skills on an international stage.
