PORVORIM: Manas Panjim Gymkhana continued their winning streak in the Goa Women’s Premier League with a 41-run victory over Venture XI, who became the first team to suffer their third successive loss in the T20 tournament at GCA academy ground, Porvorim, on Wednesday.

Put into bat, Manas Panjim Gymkhana posted a huge total of 187/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing the asking rate of over nine runs per over from the go, Venture XI managed 146/9 and stay rooted to the bottom of the five-team table without any point.
Manas Panjim Gymkhana opener Mukta Magre, who was named the player- of-the match, put up a show in her 51-ball 78, a knock that was studded with eight fours and four sixes. Along with an equally stunning batter Tejal Hasabnis (66 off 40 balls; 6×4, 4×6), the duo put on 122 runs for the second wicket. Captain Shikha Pandey struck two sixes in her seven-ball 15 as Manas Panjim Gymkhana set the platform for their second consecutive win.
Venture XI captain Tarannum Pathan, first grabbed three wickets, and later put on a power-packed show with the bat. She fought a lone battle against the MPG bowlers Mukta Magre (3/15), Shikha Pandey (2/23) and Poonam Khemnar (2/39).
Tarannum was brave and that showed in her shot-making on her way to 85 off 48 balls, which included seven fours and six sixes. Rahila Firdous scored 17 runs at the top of the order. Other than them, no other batter could get into double digits.
Meanwhile in the late match on Tuesday night, Manas Panjim Gymkhana scored their first victory in the tournament after two successive losses. They scored an emphatic 48-run victory over Geno Dragons.
Mukta Magre with an unbeaten 59 runs of 52 balls (9×4) and Poonam Khemnar with a quickfire 52 off 27 balls, which consisted of three boundaries and five sixes, put on an unfinished 71-run partnership for the fourth wicket as Manas Panjim Gymkhana posted a challenging total of 163/3 in their allotted 20 overs.
India all-rounder and MPG skipper Shikha Pandey scored 23 runs off 22 balls, which comprised three boundaries and a sixer. Geno’s Purvaja Verlekar returned impressive figures of 3/13 off her four overs.
In reply, Geno Dragons batting line-up failed to click with the exception of Pragati Singh, who scored 50 runs off 36 balls including seven boundaries, and captain Anuja Patil contributing 21 runs off 11 balls, which had four hits to the fence. No other batter even got into double figures as the Dragons were all out for 115 in 20 overs.
Manas Panjim Gymkhana and Delhi Capitals star Shikha Pandey (3/27) and Sejal Satardekar (2/15) were the most successful bowlers.
Poonam Khemnar was named the player-of-the match and the prize was presented by Mukesh Ghatwal.
