Edge past hosts Fr Agnelo Youth SC in the final after penalty shoot-out

QUEPEM: Mandopa Sports Club fought back from a goal down to defeat hosts Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda 6-5 via the tie-breaker to win the 8th Fr Agnelo Youth Inter-Village Football tournament, at Panchayat ground, Avedem, here, recently. 
The winners bagged Rs 40,000 while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 30,000.
The match turned out to be an exciting affair as both the teams dished out some exciting football.
Benjoe Clemente gave the lead to the hosts in the 17th minute but Nevin Pereira of Mandopa SC equalized before the break.
The score was tied at 1-1 at the end of the regulation period.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Anthony Pereira, Antonio Gomes, Jovison Pereira, Nevin Pereira and  Cleton Gomes scored for Mandopa SC while Manish Oliveira, Kanchan Kiro, Edwin D’Costa and Pascoal Fernandes netted for Fr Agnelo.
 The following individual prizes were also awarded to the First scorer of the final: Benjoe Clemente of Fr Agnelo, Best forward: Alvito Colaco of Mandopa SC, Best goalkeeper: Andrew Dias of Fr Agnelo and Best player: Kanchan Kiro of Fr Agnelo.
Chief guest and MLA of Quepem Constituency, Babu Kavlekar gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour and member of Zilla Parishad, Perpetua Fernandes; Deputy Sarpanch of Avedem-Cotombi Panchayat, Krishna Gauns Desai and others.
Earlier, club president, Francis Fernandes welcomed while sports secretary, Francisco D’Costa proposed the vote of thanks.
