AMBELIM: Mandopa SC emerged victorious in the Lourdes Soccer final after defeating hosts Ambelim SC 4-3, via penalties, at Ambelim ground, recently.
Both teams displayed an exhilarating amount of good football.

The players of both teams came into the game with caution.
Ambelim started the game on the right foot and in the second minute, when Cletus, on receiving a ball from Blasco, side-stepped the opposition defender and unleashed a powerful shot that went into the back the net leaving the Mandopa keeper helpless.
The Mandopa lads tried hard to find the equaliser but Ambelim’s keeper and their defensive duo Desmond and Rayan proved to be a tough nut to crack.
Mandopa SC levelled the scores when Neville scored a thumping header off a corner taken Clinton in the 25th minute.
In the tie-breaker, Mandopa SC proved to be the better shooters.
The chief guest, Aleixo Costa, Member Secretary GFDC gave way the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Anthony Pango, vice-president GFA, Fr. Caje Dourado, parish priest of Ambelim, Fr. George Ratos, Anthony C. Fernandes, Jose Coelho and other dignitaries.
