MANGAN: Mandovi Boys, Paingin defeated Friends XI Canacona by 7 wickets to clinch the 15th All India late Surat & Pisole Naik Gaonkar memorial rolling trophy Tennis ball Cricket tournament organised by Young Challengers Sports Club, Mangan.
After winning the toss, Friends XI decided to bat and scored 66 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted six overs. In reply, Mandovi Boys chased the target of 67 runs by losing 3 wickets.
The winners received the rolling trophy and cash award of Rs 1,00,040 while the runners-up received a trophy and cash award of Rs 50,040.
The chief guest Vice Chairperson of Canacona Municipal Council Kishor Shet gave away the prizes in the presence of Councillor Divakar Pagi, Dayanand Pagi, Prarthana Naik Gaonkar, Former Chairperson Mahadev Desai, Sponsorer Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Janardhan Bhandari and Rudresh Namshikar.
The Individual prizes are as follows: Best Batsman of-the-tournament: Akash Tarekar (Mandovi Boys), Best bowler of-the-tournament: Rajesh Sorate (Mandovi Boys), Man of-the-final: Akash Tarekar (Mandovi Boys), Man of-the-tournament: Kedar Zambawalikar (Friends circle)
