MARGAO: Manipur defeated Pondicherry 20-0 at the Juniors Nationals (U-18) girls football championship match organized by GFA in association with All India Football Federation at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday.
At first half, Manipur were leading 10-0.
Manipur opened the scoring in the 15th minute of play through Ratanbala Devi off a pass from Hemolata Devi.
In the first 14 minutes, Pondicherry’s defence played a crucial role with R. Meenatachi blocking the moves of Manipur’s Ratan Bala Devi and Daya Devi in the 13th and 14th minute respectively.
Than Manipur opened the floodgates, Haemolata Devi doubled the lead in the 26th minute. Daya increased the tally in the 30th minute. Later, Daya Devi (32nd), Premi Chiru (36th, 38th), Ratanbala Devi (40th, 42nd and 43rd) and Premi Chiru.
Crossing over, Manipur rained in 10 more goals beginning from the 46th minute (Daya Devi, 51st), Ratanbala Devi (56th 65th, 69th), Kashima (70th), Ranjana Chanu (78th), Ranjana Chanu (83rd), M. Achoubi (86th) minute and Kashmina.
