RAIA: Manovikas High School and Fatima Convent High School of Margao cruise ahead in the U-17 girls Subroto Mukherjee Salcete Taluka football tournament played at Ambelim football ground.
In the first match, Manovikas HS trounced St Xavier’s HS of Velim 5-0. Shania Carvalho scored four and Linday Rodrigues added one.
In the second match, a goal each by Zuriel Tavares and Ivanka Barreto helped Fatima Convent School to defeat Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim, 2-0.
Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim; Government Multipurpose HSS, Borda and St Alex HSS, Curtorim, won against their opponents to move into the second round of U-17 boys Subroto Mukherjee Salcete Taluka football tournament played at Cuncolim.
Perpetual Succour Convent pipped Bethany Convent 6-5 via tie-breaker after the match ended in 1-1 draw.
Goverment Multipurpose HSS, Borda defeated Our Lady of Rosary HS, Fatorda 2-0. Jurico Correia and Ibrahim Jagirdar were the scorers.
St Alex HSS, Curtorim, trounced Manovikas EMS 5-0. Nevil Mascarenhas scored a brace while Elton Mascarenhas, Alynier Fernandes and Ivan Hilario added a goal each to the team’s tally of five.
