PANJIM: Marcus Mascarenhas scored a fine brace as Sporting Clube de Goa registered a fluent 3-1 win over FC YFA in the Goa Football Association State Futsal Championship, played at Chowgule Futsal Arena, Gogol on Wednesday.

The Flaming Oranje took the lead early in the game when Clive’s shot was pushed into own goal by Hilton.

However, YFA fought back and scored the leveller through Aneesh. But the Panjim-based team regained their lead through Marcus just before the break.

Sporting Clube de Goa led 2-1 at the break. YFA came back strongly in the second half but it was Ozen Silva’s heroics in the goal and strong defending from Prasil, which helped the Flaming Oranje protect their lead.

Sporting consolidated their lead through Marcus to make it 3-1. YFA played a strong match, but they were denied the goals by the Sporting defence.

In the second match, Sirvodem SC were in total control of the game as they registered a 9-6 win over Youth Club of Manora.

Rohan scored a treble for the winners while Romario and Franden netted a brace each. Chadel and Nash were the other goal getters for the winning team who were dominant throughout the game. They led 8-2 in the first half.

For Manora, Nicholas and Cavin Lobo scored a brace respectively while Aniston Fernandes and Terrence also got their names on the score sheet.

FC YFA came foward in helping the State association in organising the tournament in form of sponsors.
