MARGAO, MARCH  2
Margao Sports Club came from behind to hold Salcete Football Club to a 1-1 draw  in an 11th round match of GFA First Division league at Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Wednesday
Salcete started on an attacking mode right from the word go and nearly found success as early as the 4th minute but striker Joshuah Vaz  was to be blamed as he failed to control a pass from Ronnie Monteiro.
Ronnie Monteiro helped Salcete to go1-0 up in a splendid fashion as he picked up  a loose ball from his own half and unleashed a right footer from 20 yards which gave no chance to Margao goalkeeper Agnelo Gomes  in the 9th minute.
In the 83rd minute, Margao nearly found the equaliser .Following a flag kick taken  by Jaisson Pereira, defender Socorro Colaco smartly headed it but goalkeeper Presley managed to block it.
Margao’s equaliser came in the injury time. Socorro Colaco found hardworking striker Romeo Fernandes who outpaced a rival defender and beat the rival goalkeeper with a nice placement.
In another match at 3MTR ground, Navelim, Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim (SCCC)  carried on  with their excellent performance defeating Corps of Signals 2-1. Cavelossim led 2-0 at  half time.
Cavelossim  broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when striker Vitorino Fernandes bulged the net off a pass from Djohn Fernandes.
Cavelossim doubled the lead midway in the first half. Following a flag kick by Joston Pereira, stopper back Garry D’Mello managed to get his head to it for striker Vitorino Fernandes to punt the ball in.
Crossing over, Signals dominated the game but their strikers let them down badly. They were, however, rewarded in the 80th minute when Cavelossim Joston Pereira brought down a Signals player and the referee awarded the spot kick. Pankaj Gurkha scored.
