MARGAO: The race to gain promotion for the 2014-15 Goa Pro League season is heating up with eight top clubs eyeing to finish champions in the Goa Football Association’s (GFA) First Division League, which commences on January 8, 2015.
Usually, ten teams participate in the league but this time Margao Sports Club and Salcete Football Club have withdrawn their participation, making it an eight team battle with 14 rounds to be played on home and away basis.
Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao will face Goa Police SC, at Dr Remigio Pinto ground, Taleigao; Curtorim Gymkhana will host Panjim Footballers; Guardian Angel Sports Club will travel to take on Corps of Signals while UC Telaulim will play Penha de Franca SC, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa. All the matches will be held simultaneously on the opening day, as stated in the draw released by the GFA.
