RAIA: Margao Sports Club outplayed PVC Association 3-1 to clinch the Nerul Panchayat Cup 2024 organised by Nerul Sports Club at Nerul Sports Club ground, Nerul, recently.
In the first half, both the teams were in an attacking mood, scoring a goal each. For Margao SC, Michel Dias scored in the 13th minute of the play but the joy was short-lived as Shadab Shaikh’s long ranger shot equalised for PVC Association in the 20th minute.
In the second half, Margao SC increased their pace, wherein Ritchi Vaz added one more goal to the score tally of Margao SC through a free-kick.
PVC Association tried to equalised but Margao SC defence was strong to hold the strikers of PVC Association.
In the dying minutes, Michel scored the third goal to complete his brace for Margao SC to confirm their winning title.
Chief guest Vice-Chairman of GSIDC and MLA of Saligao Constituency Kedar Naik gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of guest of honour North Goa Zilla Panchayat member Sandeep Bandodkar,
Nerul Sarpanch Rajesh Kalangutkar, GFA Executive Committee member Omkar Vaigankar, Nerul panch Sandesh Govekar and other dignitaries.
