CHICALIM: Marina English High School beat Perpetual Succour High School, Navelim by a solitary goal to enter the final of the 5th Baptist Fernandes Memorial U-12 inter-school football tournament organised by Goa Soccer Center at the Panchayat ground Chicalim, on Monday.
In an exciting encounter, Marina scored the all important goal in the first half off a corner kick by Jodrich Abranches.
In the quarter-finals matches of Group A, Our Lady of Health School, Cuncolim beat Our Lady of Carmel, Curtorim.
Marina English High School, Verna beat Kings High School 6-5 via the tie-breaker.
The teams were locked 2-2 at the end of regulation time.
Perpetual School, Navelim beat Holy Rosary School, Nuvem by a solitary goal while St. Joseph’s Calangute beat Regina Martyrum, Assolna 5-4 via the tie-breaker.
In the Group A semi-finals matches, Marina English beat Our Lady of Health School, Cuncolim 5-4 via the tie-breaker after the teams were locked 2-2 at at the end of reuglation time while in the second semi-finals, Perpetual Succour School, Navelim got the better of St Joseph’s School Calangute 4-0.
Earlier, Mohammad Ali, FC Goa player was introduced to the players of the teams by M. M. Mutawalli, Gen. Secretary and former State football coach and Francisco Nunes, President & GFA Member.
