Marlat brace lifts Albert Princesses atop

Marlat Cardozo’s brace helped Albert Princesses register their second win in the league.
The initial minutes of the game saw Albert Princesses show an attacking outlook as they kept putting pressure on the Goa Velha defense.
Albert Princesses came close to scoring as Beverly Cardoso passed to Marlat who ran into the box to head the ball but a timely clearance by the Goa Velha Sports Club defence denied her the goal.
The game then saw both teams restrict to midfield play with Albert Princesses creating better chances.
Goa Velha Sports Club best chance was when Avia Vas crossed the ball into the box but the Princesses keeper was sharp to come out and gather the ball.
Albert Princesses finally broke the deadlock in the 29th minute of the game as Marlat Cardozo had an individual run into the box and was in a one on one situation with the keeper and made no mistake to put the ball into the back of the nets making it 1-0.
Crossing over, Albert Princesses had their share of chances as Akshata Patel shot wide from target in the 37th minute.
Albert Princesses should have doubled their lead in the 48th minute as Scindia Saundatikar’s free kick was well saved by the Saints keeper.
But in the 52nd minute, Marlat Cardozo’s shot from range was tapped away by the Goa Velha keeper but far enough with the striker converting on rebound to make it 2-0.
Finding themselves two goals behind, Goa Velha Sport Club seemed to have lost the momentum as they were restricted to their side of play as the Albert side kept pressing hard.
The best chance for Goa Velha Sport Club in the second session came in the 63rd minute as Avia Vas lobbed the ball over to Tracy Pinto but the captain of Albert Princesses Scindia saw it coming and tipped it over.
The dying minutes saw Goa Velha Sports Club fight hard to find a goal but were not successful in doing so. Albert Princesses held on to their 2-0 lead till the final whistle.
