PANJIM: MCC Alcon beat Geno by 8 runs in the first qualifier of the Goa Premier League organised by Goa Cricket Association, at GCA ground, Porvorim, on Friday.
MCC Alcon won the toss and elected to bat and scored 237 for 6 in the allotted 40 overs.
Samar Dubhashi was the star performer of the innings as he scored an unbeaten 103 runs off 100 balls.
The Geno bowlers put up a decent effort as Drashan Misal grabbed 2 wickets while Swapnil Singh, Shanu, Anant Tambrekar and Samad Fallah picked a wicket each.
In reply, Geno failed to chase down the target scoring 229 for 9.
Darshan Misal was the top scorer of the innings with 47 runs followed by Ishaan Gadekar(42) and Digesh(32).
The Alcon bowlers put up a good show to contain their opponents as Rituraj Singh scalped 3 wickets while Shubham Tari and Sunny Patel grabbed 2 wickets each.
Nihal Surlakar and Vedant Naik picked a wicket each.
Samar Dubhashi was named man-of-the-match.
