PANJIM: Alcon MCC will take on last season’s finalist Dempo Cricket Club in the GCA Goa Premier League title clash from March 25 to 27, at GCA Academy ground, Porvorim.
In the semi-finals, Alcon MCC beat Salgaocar CC by seven wickets, while Dempo CC progressed with 3 points due to first innings lead over Manas Panjim Gymkhana from the drawn encounter on Wednesday.
The outcomes were predicted after Alcon MCC and Dempo CC took charge of the respective matches on the second day. After Salgaocar, who had conceded a lead of 138 runs, declared their second innings at 269/8, as an outright victory was their target for a place in the final. Alcon MCC raced to victory, reaching 133/3 in 34.5 overs at Panjim Gymkhana ground. Sumiran Amonkar remained unbeaten on 56 as he guided the consistent team to an emphatic win.
In the other match at GCA ground, Porvorim, Dempo batted the entire day with no need to press for a victory. Abhinav Tej Rana slammed a strokeful century as he hit 11 boundaries and nine sixes on his way to 144 runs of 112 balls. Karan Vasshodia scored 56. Manas Panjim Gymkhana bowlers toiled with Heramb Parab picking up five wickets, while Rahul Mehta and Shubham Desai took two and one wicket respectively.
