PANJIM: Mehul Jirage and Manjushri Raut walked away with the U-15 Boy’s and Girl’s singles titles respectively while Parteek Mahajan emerged as the Men’s singles champion at the Late Rasik Painginkar All-Goa Major Ranking Badminton tournament, organized by Rasik Memorial Trust in association with Goa Badminton Association (GBA) and SAG, at Multipurpose Hall, Fatorda-Margao, recently.
Pankaj Naik and Sunny Sawant emerged the Men’s doubles champions, winning their first title of the season while the Veterans 45+ doubles event was won by the Ponda pair of VG Prabhu and Pradip Prabhu.
Lydia Barretto and Soham Khandeparkar emerged winners in the Girl’s and Boy’s U-13 singles events respectively.
In the U-10 Boy’s singles, which was introduced for the first time this season, young Sarvadnya Khandeparkar emerged on top.
Ainesh Srivastava, Wiglan Jacques, Raunak Chodankar, Kushi Bakhale, Simran Pathak and Siya Kakodkar emerged promising players of the tournament.
PWD and Transport Minister Sudin Dhavlikar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of DSYA Director, VM Prabhudesai, President of GBA Richard D’Souza, secretary Narahar Thakur and ex-chairperson of Margao Municipal Council Kamlini Painginkar.
Pradosh Silimkhan compered the event while Saili Painginkar proposed the vote of thanks.
Following are the results. U-10 Boy’s singles: Sarvadnya Khandeparkar beat Supas Chodankar 21-16, 13-21, 21-13.
U-13 Girl’s singles: Lydia Barretto beat Arshia Gautam 21-9, 21-10.
U-13 Boy’s singles: Soham Khandeparkar beat Tejas Tendulkar 21-16, 21-19.
U-15 Girl’s singles: Manjushri Raut beat Yasmin Sayed 21-12, 21-11.
U-15 Boy’s singles: Mehul Jirage beat Curt Coutinho 21-17, 21-12.
Men’s singles: Parteek Mahajan beat Tejan Fallary 13-21, 21-9, 21-18.
Men’s doubles: Sunny Sawant/Pankaj Naik beat Parteek Mahajan/Parag Chauhan 21-6, 21-8.
Veterans 45+ doubles: VG Prabhu/Pradip Prabhu beat Lionel Fernandes/Ayub CK 17-21, 21-13, 21-16.
