CURTORIM: Cumborda Boys defeated SCR, Galli 4-2 in the final of the 4th Damdolem Boys All-Goa 7-a-side open football tournament, at Raitolem ground, Curtorim, recently.
Melvin Fernandes secured a hat-trick for Cumborda Boys and was the hero of the final.
Cumborda Boys opened their account in the seventh minute through James Fernandes while and Melvin doubled the lead in the 26th minute.
Crossing over, SCR Galli scored through Alvito Moura in the 47th minute but Melvin made it 3-1 for Cumborda Boys in the 48th minute.
As the match progressed, Agnelo Pereira scored the second goal for SCR, Galli in the 50th minute. Then, Melvin made it 4-2 for Cumborda Boys in the 52nd minute.
The winners took home Rs 30,000 and a trophy while the runners-up took home Rs 20,000.
The following individual prizes were awarded to First scorer of final: James Fernandes (Cumborda Boys), Best goalkeeper: Johnson Lobo (Cumborda Boys) and Best defender: Benjo Fernandes (Cumbarda Boys).
Chief guest MLS of Curtorim, Reginaldo Lourenco gave away the prizes in the presence of Fr Luis Pinto, Regino Fernandes, Fr Salvador and club officials. Manuel Cardoza welcomed while Peter Cardoza proposed the vote of thanks.
