MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy narrowly overcame Sporting Clube de Goa 1-0 in GFA’s Goa Pro League (Relegation), at Duler Stadium, here, on Wednesday. The match was goalless at the interval. Neither team got going in the first half. It was left to the second session for the real action to play out.
Ten minutes after resumption, a long ball was played forward and Sesa’s Melwyn Fernandes found himself in acres of space to run on and punt the ball home.
The Sporting Clube defence appealed to the linesmen, as Melwyn looked to be in an offside position, but their protests went in vain.
Sporting Clube battled with real determination till the final whistle, but the stubborn Sesa defence through everything they had in front of the ball to neutralize the attack. Anthony Wolfe, Sumeet Passi and Mauvin Borges all saw efforts cleared of the goal line on separate occasions.
