MAPUSA: Merces SC scored a hard fought 4-2 win over Siquerim SC in the 10th All Goa Late Pio Jose Goveia Memorial Inter-Village football tournament match, organized by Youth Sports Club of Colvale, at Colvale church ground, here, on Monday. It was Sinquerim who went into the breather with a 2-1 lead.
In the fifth minute, Sinquerim SC took the lead through Navnath Chodankar, who on collecting a pass from Carlton slammed the ball into the back of the nets. After several missed chances Siquerim SC further inflated the lead in the 16th minute through the boots of Carlton Rodrigues. Seven minutes later, Merces SC managed to pull one goal back through Shashikant Naik.
In the very second minute on crossing over, Merces SC managed to find their equalizer through Laxman Hadfadkar.
There on there was no turning back for the Merces SC who fired in two more goals in the 53rd and 58th minutes through Yendra Kuncolienkar and Shashant Naik.
