PANJIM: Merces Sports Club, Merces defeated Navelim Villagers Union 7-6 via tie-breaker to storm into the final of Mardol Trophy football tournament played at Mardol ground, on Wednesday Anthony and Avlon scored a goal each for Navelim Villagers to give their team the required lead, while Vardhan scored for Merces SC, narrowing down the lead to 1-2 at half time.
After lemon break, Madhu Madrekar scored an equaliser to make it 2-2.
In penalty shootout, Jayesh, Ramesh, Vinay, Jayant, Rupesh scored for Merces SC, while, Micky, Anthony, Sandy and Nevin converted the spot kicks for Navelim Villagers. The final will be played on July 10.
