MES, Caculo College in quarters

Shree Damodar, DM’s College also follow

PANJIM: MES College, Zuarinagar and Caculo College, Mapusa march into the quarter-finals of inter-collegiate cricket championship organised by Goa University, at its ground, Taleigao plateau, on Saturday. 
In the first match, MES College, Zuarinagar won by 19 runs. MES batted first and scored 134/6 in 20 overs. Ghante Jayesh (74), Vinay Siwach (12), Dhargalkar Vasant (10) and Bala Naik (8*) top scored. Somesh Makani (1/15), Sahil Vaigankar (1/19) and Abhijeet Jadhav (1/21) were at their best.
In reply, S.S. Dempo were bowled out for 116 in 18.2 overs. Sahil Vaigankar (30) and Atish Kalangutkar (21) were the top scorers. Ajaykumar Kewat (3/15), Vinay Siwach (2/23) and Sachin Naik (2/20) rattled the rival batting line up.
In another match, Caculo College, Mapusa defeated Post Graduate, Goa University by 61 runs. Batting first, Caculo College, Mapusa scored 139/10 in 20 overs. Snehal Kauthankar top scored with 69 runs, Ashish Naik (19) and Abhishek Asnodkar (11*) followed with good form. Amol Gawas (1/18), Atith NaiK (3/15) and Shripad Bandodkar (3/33) tried their best to contain the rival batsmen.
In reply, Post Graduate, Goa University were bundled out for 78 in 19.3 overs. Amit Patagundi (15), Atith Naik (8), Amol Gawas (19), Praful Gawade (18) and Datta Fale (7*) tried their best to get the match on their side but in vain. Vaman Parab (2/10), Siddesh Govekar(2/9), Guruprasad Aroskar (4/26) and Akshay Gadekar (1/16) were marvellous.
Earlier, Shree Damodar College, Margao and DM’s College, Assagao booked the quarter-finals berth.
Damodar College, Margao defeated Rosary College, Navelim by 30 runs. Batting first, Damodar scored 184 for 2 in allotted 20 overs. Shubham Desai (81) and Abhay Rivankar (60*) laid the foundation for the team. Later, Gaurav Naik (21) supported. Felix Alemao 1/29 was the lone wicket taker.
In reply, Rosary College managed to score only 154 losing all wickets in 19.3 overs. Tousif Shaikh (49), Hanslum Furtado (18), Alvares Dane (23) were the top scores. Shivsagar Kashyap (2/23), Vivek Naik (2/28) and Arun Mohite (2/21) demolished the rival batting line up.
Zantye College, Bicholim batting first scored 82 runs losing all wickets in 17.4 overs. Shubham Desai (35*) was the lone top scorer. Raghunath Parab 3/13 was the wrecker-in-chief for DM’s College. 
In reply, DM’s College reached the target in just 11.2 overs with the loss of four wickets. Gaurav Redkar (53*) was their star batsman. Shubham Desai took three wickets giving away 20 runs.
In the quarter-finals to be played on Monday, GVM’s College, Farmagudi will face Dhempe, College, Mira Mar, at 9.30 a.m. while Government College, Quepem will battle against Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, at 2 p.m.
