VASCO: MES College defeated Mandre College 5-3 to clinch the 1st State Inter college Futsal Championship organised by Goa Football Association in collaboration M.E.S College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar – Goa, S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira and Nirmala Institute of Education under the aegis of Association of College Directors of Physical Education of Goa.
Stalen Lucas of MES was excellent throughout the tournament and scored two goals in the final.
Raul Chawan also scored a brace whereas Ronaldo Rodrigues scored one for the winners.
Mandre College scored a brace through Shreyash and another was netted by Swapanil Aradkar
In the women’s category, Rosary College edged 3-2 against St. Xavier’s College. Rhea Pires scored a hat-trick for the winners whereas Sushmita and Vidhya were the goal scorers for St. Xaviers.
The semi-finalists of the tournament were Caculo College and Rosary College in the men’s category while CES College and Dhempe College in the women’s category.
A total of 25 teams participated in the men’s category and 14 teams in the women’s category.
Babli Mandrekar – Chairman of Futsal Committee of Goa Football Association, Jovito Lopes- Secretary of Goa Football Association, Francisco Fernandes- Head of Referees of Goa Football Association, Delia Antao – Principal of Nirmala Institute of Education, Dr. Jayesh Churi – Secretary of ACDOPEG were the guests and gave away the trophies, medals and certificates to all the winners and runner’s up teams.
Earlier the guests had the cake cutting ceremony celebrating 62 year anniversary of the Goa Football Association.
