MARGAO: Micky Fernandes XI prevailed over Freddy Mascarenhas XI 5-4 via tie-breaker and won the exhibition soccer match at DYSA Ground, Cuncolim recently.
Both teams were served by former international and national footballers and kept the crowds on their toes with vintage soccer as the full time score was 1-1.
In the penalty shoot out, Micky Fernandes, Robert Fernandes, Drupesh Dessai and Xavier Dias scored for Micky XI while Freddy Mascarenhas, Adil Khan and Adney Hilario converted for Freddy XI.
Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik was the chief guest and distributed mementos to both the teams in the presence of Elvis Gomes, Vice President of GFA and Director of Municipal Administration. Earlier Naik and Gomes felicitated former Cuncolim footballers – Levino Dias (Panvel Sports Club), Rajkapoor Lotlikar (Salgaocar) Ciano Fernandes (MPT) Santan Gomes and Ashok Fadte (Sesa Goa).
