Milagres enter finals

CALANGUTE, JULY 27
Milagres Sports Club, Mapusa trounced Holiday Club, Arpora 3-0 to move into finals of Vagator Parish Youth Trophy Inter-Village football tournament organised by Vagator Parish Youth at Ozrant ground, Vagator on Tuesday.
Arpora began on a promising note and could have taken the lead in the very 2nd minute  but a rasping drive by Pramod Mardolkar off Adnan Beig hit the post and went out of play.  Milagres slowly regrouped and mounted pressure on Arpora. A good try by Milind Rane was saved by Arpora keeper Nandan Simepuruskar in the 20th minute.  Arpora wasted another opportunity to forge ahead through Stanley Coutinho.
Changing over, Milagres took the lead through Krishna Chouge in the 40th minute as  Arpora keeper Nandan failed to make a neat clearance. 
Down by a goal, Arpora could have immediately restored parity in the 42nd minute but a good try by Lawrence Rodrigues was tipped over by Milagres keeper Wilbur Menezes.  Milagres doubled the lead off a penalty awarded by referee Ashok Shirodker in the 50th minute as Raghuvir Shirodker kicked Jolene Fernandes of Milagres.  Anup Govekar made no mistake to put his team 2-0 ahead.  Jolene Fernandes rounded off the tally in the dying minutes.
Milagres will now take on Parish Youth Nuvem in the finals on August 1.
