MAPUSA: Milagres Sports Club, Mapusa edged past Saligao Sporting Club 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of 7th Reira Trophy football organized by Saligao Sporting Club at Saligao ground, Friday. The score was 1-1 at half time.
Saligao started brightly and surged ahead in the fifth minute after Rohit Naik slotted past the rival goalkeeper with an adroit placement.
Milagres tried hard to get back into the game. They managed to score the equalizer in just before half time through Steven Fernandes.
After resumption, Milagres took charge of the proceedings and kept the rival defenders on their toes. They found the match-winner in the 50th minute after Milagres’ Allan Gonsalves handled the ball in the penalty area and Cosme kept his cool and converted from the spot kick.
