MAPUSA: Milagres Sports Club humbled El Shaddai Sports Club 5-2 in GFA’s Third Division football league match (Bardez Zone), at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday.
Milagres SC were leading 2-1 at half time.
It was El Shaddai SC who surged ahead early through Manjunath Vaddar in the 10th minute off an assist by Marvoti Harijan. It was a setback for Milagres SC but they bounced back in with two quick goals before half time.
Prathamesh Prabhu finished neatly in the 42nd minute off a cross by Krishna Chougle and in the injury time, Shailesh Misquin gave his team a 2-1 lead off a cross from Prakash Phondekar.
Post resumption, Milagres SC’s Shailesh darted down the left flank and crossed the ball to Shubham Kerkar, who scored and increased the lead margin for his side to 3-1.
In the 79th minute, Shailesh came up with a solo run to make it 4-1 while Kashinath scored the fifth goal.
Three minutes from final whistle, El Shaddai SC managed to pull a goal back through Nashon Noronha.
At Siolim ground, Sheldon Fernandes was the hero of the day as he guided St Anthony’s Sports Club, Marna to a 1-0 victory over Sai Avatar Sports Club, Anjuna.
At half time itself, St Anthony’s SC, Marna were leading 1-0.
Just before the break, Sheldon netted the match-winner.
