PANJIM: The AIFF Elite Academy trounced Sporting Clube de Goa 6-0 in the AIFF’s U-19 I-League at Don Bosco ground, Panjim on Wednesday.
The AIFF led 4-0 at the interval. Sporting Clube rested striker Mauvin Borges who was on duty with the senior team, while defender Jarmanjeet Singh and striker James Fernandes were suspended.
Sporting Clube were further jolted when their goalkeeper and captain Kamaljit Singh had to go off injured in the second half.
Milan Basumatary gave the AIFF the lead in the 10th minute with a neat placement. Five minutes later Daniel Lalhlimpuia doubled the lead. Seven minutes before half time, Milan grabbed his brace after dispatching from close range.
Just before the interval, Robinson Singh scored the goal of the game with a delightful volley from the edge of the box.
Changing over, Sporting Clube put up a more disciplined defensive performance, but the AIFF still found room as substitute Delbert Fernandes netted the fifth.
Deep into injury time, Daniel completed his brace with a crisp lob from the edge of the box.
