CHINCHINIM: Models Panjim blanked Carmel Girls, Curtorim 2-0 to move into the semi-finals of the CRC Chinchinim Women’s Cup played at CRC Chinchinim ground, on Wednesday.
Models Panjim dominated the first half with Khushboo Saundatikar and Sushmita Jadhav tormenting the Carmel Girls defence line.
It was Khushboo who had the first chance of the match for Models but her shot hit the side netting in the 5th minute.
Later, Models’ Sushmita Jadav dribbled past Celia Raposo, Belocia Vaz and Melvira Fernandes from the Carmel defence line and shot past the keeper Samantha Fernandes in the 12th minute off Divya Sangodkar to make it 1-0.
In the 18th minute, Sushmitha Jadav and Karen Costa’s shot was saved by Samantha Fernandes keeper.
Just one minute left for half time, Keenda D’Souza netted the second goal for Models with a snap shot off Sujita Murgaonkar connect.
Carmel Girls through Delcy Carvalho and Belicia Vaz tried their best to narrow the margin but Models defence lines stood strong till the end of the match.
Models Panjim will meet Canacona Sports Academy in the semi-final on Thursday.
