GUIRIM: Monte de Guirim Past Pupils Association acknowledged their contribution in the fields of Sports, Coaching and Teaching, by felicitating the personalities at their Annual Reunion held recently at Monte de Guirim:
Brian De Souza from Sangolda/Candolim, a member of the School’s Championship winning hockey and athletic teams in the 70s and a state awardee in hockey was felicitated for his contribution in the field of Sports.
Peter Fernandes from Parra who has the unique distinction of playing as a goalkeeper in the school’s championship winning hockey as well as football teams in 1971 was also felicitated for his contribution in the field of Sports and late Anthony Coelho from Siolim who recently passed away on November 15, 2019 was posthumously awarded for his contribution as the Schools Football Coach.
Coelho was responsible for training and launching the football careers of many players, most prominent amongst them being Eqypsio Coutinho and Arnold Rodrigues.
The award was received by his daughter Melissa.
John Lobato Faria from Guirim, who retired as a teacher after 36 years of teaching mathematics and science, was felicitated for his contribution as a teacher.
The event was compered by Viola Mascarenhas and Julio Cardoz.
