MAPUSA: Madhya Pradesh drubbed Dadra & Nagar Haveli by a convincing 4-0 win in the Santosh Trophy West Zone Qualifiers 2019 group B match, played at Duler Stadium, here on Monday.
Madhya Pradesh struck twice in each session of play to secure full points from today’s encounter and top the group table.
In the first session, Madhya Pradesh colts saw Rishabh Rajak twice fail to beat the rival keeper from close with minutes later Sahil Rajak also shot wide from close.
Madhya Pradesh finally surged ahead in the 32nd minute, when Swamy sent in a cross to Sahil and the midfielder set up Bikram Sarkar in the goalmouth who made no mistake to score past Dadra keeper Pulkit Singh.
In the very next minute, Madhya Pradesh further consolidated their lead as Yash Lal sent a through pass to Deepak Ahirwar who stabbed the ball into the goal to make it 2-0.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli had just one good attempt at the rival goal a few seconds before the breather but strikes Kuldeep Vartha strike from a distance was collected by Madhya Pradesh keeper Mohammed Faiyaz.
On crossing over, Madhya Pradesh repeated the same story of the first session missing three more chances. Sahil and Bikram strikes were collected by Dadra keeper Singh, while Swamy shot over the crossbar.
In the added time, Madhya Pradesh hammered in two more goals through their substitutes. Melvin Shaji scored from inside the penalty box, while Akash Thapa scored the fourth goal from a distance to make it 4-0.
