Mustifund Saunstha clinch double crown in MSC Championship

PANJIM: Mustifund Saunstha emerged winners in the U-15 and mens categories in the 2nd All-India Table Tennis Championship organised by Miramar Sports Club, at Indoor Stadium, Campal.

PANJIM: Mustifund Saunstha emerged winners in the U-15 and mens categories in the 2nd All-India Table Tennis Championship organised by Miramar Sports Club, at Indoor Stadium, Campal.
Vivek Bhargava and Rathin Koloses clinched the individual titles in the mens and junior category. 
In the junior singles final, A top Karnataka paddler Rathin Koloses toppled State champion Nagesh Verekar (3-1).
In the mens singles final, India no 28 Vivek Bhargava toppled former India no 2 Shubhankar Renevikar (4-2).
In the junior team final, Rathin Koloses defeated Anshuman Agarwal 11-7, 11-5, 11-3. Later, Samyak Kashyap lost to Nagesh Verekar 11-13, 10-12, 11-9, 11-8, 3-11. In the 3rd game Tanya Patil beat Jaeden Gomes 11-5, 11-9, 11-9, giving Mustifund Saunstha a 2-1 lead. 
In the 4th game, State champion Nagesh Verekar toppled a top Karnataka youth paddler 9-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-9 making it 2-2. In the decider Karnataka youth paddler Samyak Kashyap toppled Anshuman Agarwal 9-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-9, thereby helping Mustifund Saunstha beat Verekars 3-2 in the U-15 team final.
In the mens team final, Shubhankar Renavikar beat Tanmoy 11-7, 11-7, 12-10, to give Mustifund Saunstha a 1-0 lead. Later Shubankar Ranade lost to local state champion Wesley Rosario 7-11, 8-11, 6-11 making it 1-1. 
In the doubles, Anurag Gote and Shubhankar Ranade lost to former state champion of Goa Tejas Shevde and Wesley Rozario 5-11, 5-11, 11-7, 9-11 making it 2-1 in favour of Verekars. 
In the 4th rubber, Shubhankar Renavikar beat Tejas Shevde 11-4, 12-10, 2-11, 11-4, to make it 2-2. In the deciding rubber, Anurag Gote proved his class to topple Tanmoy 11-7, 11-5, 11-7, thereby helping Mustifund Saunstha to a double crown yet again.
Promising Player prizes were awarded to Janvi Naik Dalal, Aaron Farias, Samaira Soares and Mandar Joshi.
Dr Sanjeev Dalvi, Director of health services, Sandeep Heble, GBA Secretary, 
Joel Andrade, president Miramar Sports Club, Noel Estebeiro and Myron Pereira graced the prize distribution ceremony.
