PANJIM: Nagesh, Suresh, Benjamin, Avadhut moved into the next round of the men’s singles draw of the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open, on Tuesday.
Playing in the morning session, Nagesh dominated Sandeep from the very first serve.
Playing a high tempo game Nagesh secured a 6-0 win against Sandeep.
On court two, Benjamin got off the mark in similar fashion winning his game 6-0 as well against Anbu.
Continuing with the pace set by the early winners, Suresh got the better of Anupam winning 6-1 on his way into the next round.
Both players played out an entertaining game to keep the fans on their toes and cheering for their fellow members.
Avadhut continued the winning trend as he played out a winning game against Pralay 6-2.
Both players in the initial stages looked like it would be a close game but Avadhut brought out his A game as the set progressed to eventually win and move into the next round.
Continuing with the impressive winning margins, Aadil won his game in a straight set 6-0 against Vijay Singh while Shiva defeated Ravindra 7-5 to book his place in the next round.
The girls U-12 category saw Saisha win her game against Ridhima 6-2 to progress while Shayna came out winning from a hard fought battle against Vara to win 6-4.
Both the girls progress to the next round of the tournament. In the U-16 category Shayna won convincingly against Wynona 6-0.
The men’s doubles category pairing of Santosh and Lucio played out an easy win over Avadhut and Rohan to win 6-3, while Sanjay and Vastav got the better of Deepak and Neville in a tightly fought contest to win 6-4.
Playing out the last game of the men’s doubles category Aadil and Amit won against Greg and Shreyash in a straight set 6-0 and progress to the next round.
