Nagesh, Shantesh clash in final; Tanisi on verge of triple crown

PANJIM: Nagesh Verenkar will clash with Shantesh Mapsekar in the finals of the Sub Juniors Boys Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Table Tennis Championship 2016 underway at the Polygon Hall, Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar, on Thursday.

Nagesh Verenkar defeated Ansuhman Agarwal 16-14, 9-11, 11-3,11-9 while Shantesh Mapsekar crushed Shaswat Mapsekar 12-10,11-6, 11-8.
Tanisi Kirtani is on the verge of claiming triple title as she stormed into the finals of sub junior, junior girls and ladies category.
In the sub junior girls semi-finals, Tanisi won with straight sets to defeat Sneha Rane 11-7, 11-0, 11-3 while Prutha Parrikar outsmarted Tania Patel 12-10, 11-5, 11-7. Tanisi will play Prutha in the finals on June 12.
In the junior girl’s category, Tanisi defeated Tania Patel 11-6, 11- 4,11-4. 
In the ladies category Tanisi crushed Shivani Ghantkar 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 in the quarter-finals and later defeated Aditi Chodankar 11-7, 11-3, 11-2 in the semi-finals to book her place in the final. 
Day four of the championship will see Junior Boys in action. Matches are scheduled between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.
