PANJIM: Borda RCC defeated Ponda RCC (B) team by 87 runs at SAG ground, Ponda in the late Mahadev Prabhudesai Memorial U-13 Trophy, on Sunday.
Winning the toss and electing to field, Ponda RCC could not restrict the Borda team from scoring 221/4 in 33 overs due to excellent batting display by Nathan Fernandes (91*) and Sanath Nevagi (82) sharing a partnership of 132 runs.
Ashish K C (2-48) was the pick of the bowlers with Akshay Chodankar and Mahesh Verenkar picking a wicket each.
A poor running in between the wickets cost Ponda as they managed to score only 134 all out in 32 overs with Shantanu Nevagi (2-22), Rudresh Sharma (2-27), Sheet Singh (2-11) and Jivan Chittam (1-11) bowling well for Borda. Gaurang Chodankar (29), Shubham Shinde (11), Harsh Raiker (27) and Sahil Chavan (10) batted well for Ponda.
