MARGAO: Navelim Sporting Club overpowered St Rock’s Youth Club, Majorda 4-1 via tie-breaker to storm into the semi-finals of all-Goa Our Lady of Assumpta inter-village football tournament organized by Sarzora Sports Club, at SAG Griound, Sarzora, on Sunday.

Both the teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of regulation period.

Navelim Sporting Club were a dominant lot and created many openings in both the sessions but could not score due to inept shooting by their forwards.

At the other hand, St Rock’s slowly took over the control but could not break the rival resilience defence.

Crossing over, Navelim Sporting Club continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and fired couple of shots against the rival citadel but without success.

St Rock’s went all out in the dying minutes of the game but rival defenders were alert in frustrating the attacks.

In the tie-breaker, Wilton Gomes, Allister Gomes, Rovel Gomes and Navin Pereira were on target for Navelim Sporting Club while Navin Mendes was only successful for St Rock’s Youth Club.
