Navelim SC in semis

MAPUSA: Navelim Sporting Club registered a 3-1 win over Arlem Youth Association to enter the semi-finals of Anjuna Gymkhana Cup in the quarter-a played at the  Anjuna Gymkhana ground, Anjuna, on Friday.

The teams went into the breather locked in a 1-1 draw.  It was Joyson Gauncar, who opened the account for Arlem Youth Association when he placed the ball over the Navelim Sporting Club’s goalkeeper, 1-0. 

Stung by the reverse, Navelim SC exerted immense pressure on the rival citadel and came to level terms as Presley Gomes scored a gem of a goal, beating the rival goalkeeper hands down, 1-1.

On crossing ends, in the 36th minute, Sadroy Costa scored for Navelim SC from an assist by Velon Rebello, 2-1.

In the 52nd minute, Navelim SC netted their third goal when the ball rebounded from the Arlem YA goalkeeper and Travis Souza, who lurking nearby slammed the ball into the net, 3-1. 

Navelim Sporting Club’s Travis Souza was adjudged as the player-of-the-match. In the next quarter-final, St Sebastian SC, Mapusa, and ABC Arambol will clash on May 19.
