MAPUSA: Navelim Sporting Club registered a well deserved 2-0 win over United Club Nerul to enter the quarter-finals of the Late Anthony & Santana Carvalho Memorial Soccer Cup, organised by St. Savio’s SC Calangute, at Calangute Association ground, on Saturday.
Both the goals for the winners came in the first session of play.
In the 11th minute of the match, Americo Rodrigues latched a power-packed right footer which crashed into the back of the nylons to give the lead.
Roven Pereira made the issue safe for Navelim as he connected a cross from Climax Lawrence to double the lead.
Nerul did try to get back into the match on crossing over but Navelim Sporting Club defenders failed to bulge under pressure.
