Navelim track set for Sunday supercross

MARGAO: The supercross two-wheeler race organised by Fast Track Racing Association of Goa will be held on Sunday, February 12 at Navelim at 2.30 p.m.

A total of 60 participants for all five races from all over India have confirmed their participation.

In terms of quality, you cannot get any bigger than this with C S Santosh, currently the nation’s reigning supercross champion along with Goa’s National MRF champion and runners-up Alan Sequeira and MRF supercross bronze medalist Javed Shaikh.

Motor sports buffs need to pull up their socks for a chance to see action-packed races, remarked Anthony Rodrigues ,president of Fast Track Association of Goa while addressing the press conference here on Thursday.

Anthony, who praised Alan for being instrumental in bringing the supercross race in South Goa, lauded the racer’s commitment to promote motor sports in the State.

The races will be conducted in five categories – Foreign Private Class, Group C 4 stroke and 2 stroke upto 260 cc, Indian Expert Group B, Group C 4-stroke and local Goa Class for those who want to make a career in the future.

The scrutiny and practice lap rounds will be held on February 11 under the watchful eyes of FMSC chief steward and other stewards who have been especially deputed for the event which is organized under the aegis of Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), stated Anthony.

S P S Garcha, Regional Director expressed satisfaction over the works undertaken by the organisers and said that arrangements are in full swing at the venue with safety aspects being given top priority. He said that adequate medical aid will be provided to the participants and also a doctor and full equipped ambulance will be at the venue.

Garcha disclosed that the riders will have to wear compulsory head gear and other accessories related to motor sports.

Shyam Kothari, FMSC Commissioner for motor sports in India has provided the necessary backing and inputs.

The event will also have entertainment and music with Goan artiste Shaikh Amir, Ashton Soares. Melroy Rodrigues will be performing live.

Among those present were Gaurav Sharma, secretary of Fast track Racing Association of Goa, asst. secretary Aslam Shaikh and Javed Kazi.
