NAVELIM: Navelim Veterans registered a solitary goal victory over MAP Veterans to move into the quarter-finals of 9th Navelim inter-village veterans cup, organised by Navelim Veterans, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
Claudio Pacheco of MAP Veterans was the star of the match with his tricky moves and assists to his teammates and for Navelim Veterans Sukhdev Arwade gave his best.
Both teams gave their best in the first half but couldn’t score.
It was Claudio Dias of Navelim Veterans who should have netted in the very first minute itself but his powerful long range shot failed to pop up into MAP Veterans. Three minutes later, Udai Fondekar of MAP shot above the cross bar.
It was Claudio Pacheco of MAP Veterans who connected two good passes to Briwon Lobo and Rajesh Diukar but both shot wide.
Sukdev Arwade of Navelim Veterans netted the match-winner with a powe- packed shot in the 49th minute off Rui Niasso’s assist.
