Navelim Veterans prove better shooters

QUEPEM: Navelim Veterans edged past Sun Moon Veterans, Chandor 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the next round of the All-Goa Assolda Veterans football tournament, at Quepem sports complex, on Friday.

There was no score at full time. 
The teams went head-to-head but their strikers lacked sharpness.
Alfred Fernandes of Navelim Veterans came close to scoring but his effort hit the cross piece of Sun Moon Veterans and fell back in play in the 12th minute.
Sun Moon Veterans had the first go through Peter but his header missed the target in the 14th minute.
Crossing over, Navelim Veterans attacked as Ajay Acharya found Franky in an ideal position but the latter’s venous strike was blocked by a rival defender in the 39th minute.
Sun Moon Veterans came close to scoring but Espy Fernandes’ shot was saved by the Navelim Veterans goalkeeper in the dying minutes.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Navelim Veterans netted through Alfred, Ajay, Cajetan, Claude and Robert while Sun Moon Veterans scored through Peter, Egido D’Costa, Espy Fernandes and Pascoal Fernandes.
