SIRLIM: Navelim Villagers Union will meet Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, in the finals of the Our Lady of Merces football on August 15, at the Chinchinim church ground, at 4.30 pm.
While both teams enjoy aerial advantage, Navelim have a safe pair of hands in Jeet Gupta, with his counterpart Sheldon Noronha also possessing some acrobatic skills.
Vellington, Valinton Niasso, Nash Pereira and Sanroy Costa have the ability to change the complexity of the game with their tactical and technical performance. Mark Gomes, who netted the first goal of this year’s tournament, and comes now as a substitute, also possesses the flair to convert chances.
Fatorda, on the other hand, have lanky forward Hanslum Furtado, who has had a hat-trick netted against Ambelim SC. Joining his feet with F Andrade, Cliff Barreto and Milson, the tall striker can create a deadly combination which Navelim have to avert to keep their citadel safe.
