RAIA: Navelim Villagers Union defeated SC Davorlim 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of 32nd Super Soccer tournament in memory of Joao Francis Fernandes at Dando ground Benaulim, Sunday.
Paxton Gomes gave Davorlim the lead in the 19th minute. Navelim’s Sandroy and Preston Costa controlled the game effectively but were unable to break the Davorlim defence.
After the break, Navelim stepped up their attacking prowess and Rovan Pereira managed to equalise in the 43rd minute. The last 15 minutes saw both teams pressing for a win, but it was Clinton Niasso’s crucial goal in the 57th minute that ultimately sealed the win for Navelim.
Meliston Dias was given the man-of-the match award by Sanford Braganza.
