NAGOA: Navelim Villagers Union got the better of Mormugao United Cultural SC 4-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Nagoa Village Panchyat Cup organised by Rossman Cruz Sports Club, Nagoa in the match played at Village panchyat ground Nagoa-Verna, on Thursday.
Navelim Villagers netted the first goal of the match through Avlon Gomes in the 12th minute while Fr Americo Rodrigues doubled the lead for Navelim eleven minutes later.
In the 25th minute Elroy Fernandes netted for Mormugao, within six minutes before Avlon Gomes completed his brace for Navelim making it 3-1 in favour of Navelim VU. Navelim’s Mizio Peixito made it 4-1 before the teams went into the breather.
Post resumption, Vikas Mazundar and Sameer Borkar netted a goal each for Mormugao UCSC in the 49th and 58th minutes respectively to narrow the margin to 4-3.
